League action at home for first time in seven weeks!

We will be looking to build on the excellent performance at Felixstowe last week
- Mark Morsley

AFC Sudbury will entertain Barking FC Saturday, when Bostik league action returns to Sudbury for the first time in seven weeks.

After the exciting exploits in the FA Cup, AFC Sudbury will be keen to build on their win last weekend at Felixstowe & Walton United. Wednesday night in Sudbury saw the official switch on of their new LED Floodlights, a bumper crowd of 703 Sudbury watched an impressive Ipswich Town under 23’s run out 3-0 winners.

The visitors, Barking FC, currently sit in 15th place in the league, just two places above Sudbury (W3,D0,L5) and on 9 points. They too, like Sudbury, are out of all FA competitions having departed the FA Trophy at the weekend to Hayes & Yeading United. In the league they have beaten Romford, Mildenhall and Dereham. A win for either team today would see them climb a few places up the Bostik North table.

AFC Sudbury will be looking to get a home league win under their belt, defeats to Heybridge Swifts and Bowers & Pitsea in their only two home leagues matches this season. After the AFC Academy U18’s team performance at home midweek, beating Wroxham U18’s (previously unbeaten all season) 11-1 in the FA Youth Cup, Sudbury Manager Mark Morsley will be hoping his team can add to their win last Saturday at Felixstowe & Walton United, speaking on Friday morning “Another important league game up next against in form Barking. We will be looking to build on the excellent performance at Felixstowe last week but we know this will be another challenge. Unfortunately Mekhi McKenzie picked up a dead leg in the Ipswich Town game on Wednesday but Paul Hayes is back to full fitness as is the rest of the squad”.

AFC Sudbury reserves have a weekend off with no match, whilst the Sudbury ‘A’ team travel to Tollesbury in the Border League. On Sunday the Ladies team will entertain Cambridge City Ladies with a 2pm kick off.

Saturdays match against Barking FC will kick off at 3pm and gates will be open from 1:30pm.

Yellows Club members will again be able to enjoy discounts at the clubhouse bar, please look out for the specials this week.

See you all there.........
