Bad weather doesn't dampen the AFC spirit.

The young reserve team picked up their first 3 points of the season with a composed display at Brightlingsea Regent.

In tricky conditions we made a good start and were able to pin the home team back in their half for long periods. Midway through the half we deservedly took the lead when Georgia Sleep finished with a neat shot on the turn. Five minutes later Sleep turned provider with a pass to Katie Weller who placed her first-time effort neatly into the bottom corner. A two-nil lead at half-time was the least the girls deserved for a good controlled performance.

Weather conditions worsened in the second half and play became scrappy. Credit should be given to Brightlingsea who threw more players forward forcing our defenders to work harder to help keep a clean sheet and only an excellent last-ditch tackle from Faith Candice prevented the hosts from pulling a goal back. We continued to carve out several chances but couldn't extend our lead; Isabella Crawford forced a fine save from the home keeper and saw another shot roll just past the post and Daisy Woodward had an effort scrambled off the goal-line.
