Today's game started with a mark of respect for the 9yr old Jordan who tragically lost his life playing the game we all love. #1minuteforjordan with all players and participants taking a knee together in the centre of the pitch for a 1 minute silence.

*GAME STARTS*
The game got off to a great start with Avengers on the pressure keeping the Melford keeper pretty busy. Then it became a very end to end half with Avengers constantly returning the deep balls from Melford.

Melford gave it their all and it was looking promising for them at one point when they won a free kick on the edge of the box. Taken quickly before Avengers were unable to get set, Referee spotted this and allowed a re-take to allow Avengers to set their wall. Taken over the heads the ball was collected beautifully in the hands of JACK.A and the the return was on. With quick direction from Jack.A the ball made its way through the field where Joseph managed to break away down the middle winning a penalty in the box after being taken out in a quick take down.
Up steps the captain for the day Dylan who slipped the ball precisely into the bottom left corner where the keeper couldn't reach to make the game 1-0.

This brought us to half time.

Second half kicked off and Melford started to fight back on the attack this time keeping JACK.A busy in our half. The Avengers defense stood up tough and fought back with both Rylee and Freddie making great stops getting the ball returned up field. Midfielders Tom and Matty winning the balls to open up plays down both the left and right with both Noah and Dylan making great runs. Jude up and down the center mid and tackling at the back as an all round threat. As the heavens opened a second goal came in from Noah straight of a beautiful cross from Joseph.

2-0 Avengers

In a wet restart Melford quickly lost the ball on multiple occasions from the Avengers defense again passing through and opening up and giving a couple of great runs from Dylan down the right this time from Tom. Eventually this paid off and Dylan with a mad dash managed to keep the ball in play on the right hand corner, cutting back and crossing the ball over to Noah who just mis-kicked being hit out by the Melford keeper who of course did not see Joseph coming in on the follow up to smash it back of the net.

3-0 Avengers.

The game didn't stop here and Melford really pitched in the opportunity and kept Jack.A busy with some magnificent saves today. Jack.M making some great tackles and runs upon the left side of the pitch for Melford to find it was to little to late for them to make any comeback before the final whistle. The Avengers really pulled together despite some misplaced throw ins for the day.
Today's man of the match went to Rylee today for his great defensive positioning and play.

*MANAGERS FINAL WORDS*
As it was the final game today for the Avengers as u10s. We wanted to put the boys out in what we think are as close to their best positions at the moment and it really showed especially when we made the 3 substitutions the game did not seem to dip, the performance level stayed the same and we were also pleased how happy they all were to keep a clean sheet, we talked about that yesterday "how you can’t loose if you don’t concede" .
Really pleased they put all the hard work in on the training ground and it’s showing in performances... a great end to the season..

One more game a friendly 9v9 to give us all an idea of what’s to come next season. ⚽️????
