3 Games - 3 Different Competitions - 3 Wins!

The Academy started with a trip to Capel Plough in the Suffolk Senior Cup. On paper this was a very difficult Cup draw for us (bit of a recurring thing that!) As Capel had won 7 from 8 this season and are sitting 2nd in the SIL. The game turned out to be exactly that with our hosts putting us under immense pressure from the off. However with resilient defending and some neat finishing we were able to come away with a victory that has put us in the next round to face Beccles Town FC away on November 15th 2015.

The second game of the week was a TNU18 game against Haverhill Rovers FC. We started brightly and our crisp passing creating lots of chances of which we took 3 in the first half. As has been the case often this season in the TNU18 league this season we have gone into the break with a healthy lead. What is pleasing for the staff is mostly we have continued to set high standards in the second half and we did that on Thursday by scoring another 4 goals, the game ending up 7-1.

Saturday saw us back in TND1 action and the need to grab 3 much needed points up for grabs.. A really well worked goal excited by Brad Beevis was the deciding factor on the day and a much needed and deserved clean sheet allowed us to see out the game 1-0.

Some good performances this week as the lads continue to grow in confidence and develop as individuals.

A really good piece of publicity in the EADT on Friday highlighting all the good work that goes on here at the AFC Sudbury Academy was a welcome boost.

This coming week we are again really busy with a TND1 game vs Cornard Utd away on Tuesday. On Wednesday we have 20+ U16 players coming in for a taster day as recruitment for the 2016/17 season gets into full swing. Thursday its Suffolk County FA U18 cup action at the Wardale Williams stadium vs Haverhill Rovers (not easy! The following week after a league game!) Then the following night we host league leaders Wivenhoe Town in the TND1. You may get to see the manager in an AFC Sudbury starting 11 that night if the the rumours are true JG?!

Have a great week watching AFC Sudbury!

Danny..
