Slow start, strong finish

This week we played away to Moreton Hall and as a reward for supporting his team mates last week when he was injured and unable to play, Brooke was given the honour of leading the team as Captain today.

The boys started the game slow this week with picking players up from corners and throw ins, which we have been working on in training, and due to this we conceded 2 first half goals that put us on the back foot for the second half.

The second half we started better, pressing players quicker, picking better passes from goal kicks to break/attack quicker, but unfortunately we conceded another goal in the second half, and this seemed to switch the boys on more and from this point on we looked like the better team.

A quick throw from Leo, before Moreton had a chance to get organised, resulted in confusion between their defenders enabling Max to pick the ball up and charge towards goal, and his shot squeezed under the goalkeeper.

Shortly afterwards, Jude won the ball in our half from their midfielder and put in a defence splitting pass for Max to run on to and again, squeezing his shot under the goalie.

Sensing a cone back, the pits were winning their tackles, passing quicker, but unfortunately had left themselves to much to do in the second half. If we can start our games the way we finish, we’ll take the lead and grow in confidence and win a game.

Man of the Match today went to a player who done brilliantly both in training and in the game. He was winning all his tackles, making important passes and having the confidence to run with the ball. Well done Jude.
