X 'Marks' the Spot

Sean is a player I have admired for a long time.
- Mark Morsley, AFC Sudbury Manager

AFC Sudbury are proud to announce that hugely experienced striker Sean Marks has signed a 2-year deal with the Yellows.
Marks, who has been a long term target of our manager Mark Morsley, will add Sudbury to an impressive CV having been a prolific goal scorer at both Step 2 and Step 3. Morsley said, “Sean is a player I have admired for a long time plus he is a great lad. We spoke at length about our clubs plans and how I want to build a squad that combined the excellent Academy products and like minded experienced footballers. He ticks all these boxes and along with Paul Hayes will be a great role model and inspiration for Freddie King and Tom Maycock in their fledgling careers”.

Sean signed from Vanarama National side Maidenhead United in May 2018, making over 30 appearances and scoring 6 goals for the Magpies in the 2017/18 season. He is an experienced striker who signed for Maidenhead United in the summer of 2016 from Braintree Town to reunite with manager Alan Devonshire. Sean played over 300 games for the Iron in an eight year spell following his transfer from Heybridge Swifts. He played a leading role in Braintree’s remarkable rise to the highest echelon of non league football, scoring 25 goals when they won the Conference South in 2011.

Sean has a wealth of non league experience having previously played with AFC Hornchurch, Maidenhead United, Braintree Town and Heybridge Swifts.

Sean scored on his debut for AFC Hornchurch last season on his way to scoring 18 goals during the season. Previously he spent several seasons at Braintree where he amassed 152 appearances and 37 goals.

All at AFC welcome Sean to the MEL Group Stadium.
