Vegas beckons for the class of 2019 at AFC Sudbury

Press Release AFC Sudbury Academy USA Tour May 2019

The AFC Sudbury Academy is pleased to announce that for its Fourth Annual USA Tour it has been accepted into the prestigious Albion Soccer Club Memorial Day Cup.

Hosted by Albion Soccer Club Las Vegas This is a Elite Tournament over the Memorial Weekend a class I Tournament open to USYSA, US Club, AYSO, and FIFA affiliated teams.

The USA tour has become part of the AFC Sudbury Academy fabric and a crucial part in its unique player development programme, each year the experience seems to get better and better. Three former players are currently plying their trade at NCAA Colleges and Universities on the back of the previous tours. With another Four more of the current U18 crop destined to join them across the pond this Summer.

Academy Director Danny Laws is delighted that the Albion SC have accepted this year’s class of 2020 into their tournament. 'We traditionally take our U17 scholars on tour at the end of their first year, we wanted to visit yet another state and when we were put in touch with Albion SC Las Vegas it all just fell into place! We are very grateful to Tournament Director Jeff Manthey for making this happen'

Jeff Manthey had this to say about AFC Sudbury participating at the tournament.

“We are delighted to host these terrific Sudbury Academy players during our tournament,” says Manthey, “This type of experience is great for these players and it’s also great for the Albion players to make connections with European kids. We look forward to growing the relationship between Sudbury Academy and Albion SC Las Vegas and sending some of our kids to Europe soon!”

The AFC Sudbury Academy has previously played tournaments in Pennsylvania, New York & Southern California. Joining Academy Director Danny Laws in staffing the tour will be Academy Coaches David Cannon, Craig Power and Gavin Peters along with extra Club personal to be announced but it is expected the largest continent of Sudbury players & officials to tour ever!

'One of the biggest factors in us deciding on the Memorial Day Cup was the willingness of Albion SC to accommodate our three female players, who will be guesting for local teams at the tournament that runs both a male and female event' Danny Laws.
