Cup Success for Ladies
By Darren Theobald
Six Goals and a clean sheet
After 3 weeks with no match, we returned to action away to Coplestonians in the Quarter Final of the Suffolk Cup. The surface today was difficult with an uneven pitch that would be challenging for both teams over the 90 minutes.
Today’s team contained two players on their debuts for the club.
The first half saw Sudbury make plenty of opportunities but failing to get the ball in the net. Shortly before half time Squirrell got a crucial goal to send Sudbury in at half time with the lead.
The second half proved much better with Sudbury dominating in possession.
An early goal in the half helped settle Sudbury down and there was some pleasing football throughout. Squirrell completed a brace, as did Mia Etheridge, with Olivia Gunn also finding the net. Finally a fantastic debut for Ellie Mitchell was completed when she added to the score sheet.
Overall a promising performance from the team with 6 goals consisting of 4 different goal scorers. The result is a much needed confidence boost ahead of the final push in the league over the coming 6 weeks where we will look to secure our league status for next season.
