“All about the dollar”

Day Three

The players arose slightly later this morning but with purpose as we had a 9am departure to get to the University of Nevada Las Vegas to have a tour of their sports facilities and to meet their coaches. A very impressive setup with top class facilities. They even have giant bean bags and disco glitter ball in the ladies locker room. Their pitches have a great back drop as they back onto the Las Vegas Strip.

Then back in convoy to the villa for a bite to eat before the eagerly anticipated trip so the discount shopping mall. The return meeting time was set then it was “on your marks, get set, go!” like the start of the London Marathon they shot off at break neck speed. They returned with their purchases and we strategically loaded up and departed.

Heading back to the villa it was time for the serious part of this tour, football !
Pasta was on the menu tonight and the players got kitted up for the 25 minute drive to the pitches. 13 floodlit 3G pitches side by side, a very impressive setup for the desert!

Kick off was 8:15 and it wasn’t long until AFC had taken the lead. Freddie King netting from the spot. Then It was Ross Crane who had their defence in pieces, he picked the ball up on the left and left three defenders scratching their heads before sliding it past the keeper. Then came a defensive error which let the home side pull one goal back.
In the second half a few changes were made and the tempo upped. Goals from Sam Girling, Jake Horlock and Eloise King sealed a great 5-1 win.

On return to the villa the hot tub and pool was in full swing as the players relaxed and the. One by one disappeared to bed.

Another great day in the Nevada desert.

Tomorrow brings the first competitive match for the girls and a showcase for the others.

Stay tuned.......
