AFC Sudbury hoping to repeat history

AFC Sudbury face another tough task tonight when Bognor Regis Town visit the Kings Marsh Stadium for the FA CUP replay.
Following the draw down on the south coast in torrential rain at the weekend, Sudbury will hope they can create a cup upset and advance through. Last time these teams met in cup competition the first match at Bognor ended in a draw, the replay was won by Sudbury 2-1.

With only Jordan Blackwell missing from the squad that travelled on Saturday due to cup suspension, Sudbury manager Mark Morsley has a hard decision to make with selecting his squad, which may include new signing Reece Harris who could be making his home debut tonight, speaking about the weekend and tonight’s fixture he said “We knew we had to minimise our mistakes and make sure we stayed in the game as long as possible, so Tyler’s misplaced header to gift an early goal wasn’t ideal. Credit must go to the lad as he didn’t let this effect his performance that was excellent. Great credit must go to the lads whose positive reaction soon got us level. Reece whipped in a great cross that Phil Kelly got above the keeper who spilled the ball for Callum Harrison the head home, game on!
Well actually for the rest of the first half Bognor played some quite brilliant football but Paul Walker, as ever, was excellent in goal and we kept our shape and got to the break level. We had been forced to defend deep and unusually not see a lot of the ball, that needed to be addressed. At times in the first half our hosts looked ominous and we need to deal with that in the 2nd half. Well deal with it we did as we got our tactics right by allowing possession to be had by Bognor in non-threatening areas and then we set traps to get possession back and play on the counter attack. As Bognor ran out of ideas we got better and better creating space and chances, the best being a fine left footed shot from Baris Altintop that crashed against the bar”.

If the ties ends in a draw, extra time and if needed penalties will be played.

This is definitely a match not to be missed !!
