Welcome To Darren

The search is over. AFC Manager Mark Morsley has found his new goalkeeping coach and for Sudbury supporters it will be great to welcome back a former player in the role.

Darren Gould is the man selected to suceed David Hunt who took the position last season when Danny Potter departed the club. Darren (pictured in 2008) made 28 appearances for AFC between November 2008 and August 2009. He played for a number of other local clubs including FC Clacton, Harwich and Parkeston and Halstead Town.

Welcome back to AFC Darren. (Hopefully we can get an up to date photograph of you soon!)

Synopsis
A well-built goalkeeper (b 25/08/74), he started his career with Clacton Town then joined Harwich and Parkeston, before returning to Clacton and then Halstead Town for a short while. He then was snapped up by Maldon Town staying for four seasons but at the start of 2008/09 season played for Halstead again before joining Tiptree United from where he signed for AFC on 27th November 2008. In the middle of April 2009 he signed a contract to stay with the club for season 2009/10, however he was released on 21st August 2009 and joined FC Clacton. He stayed with them throughout the season but was not with them at the start of the 2010/11 season, however he did play occasionally for West Clacton.
