The family of Tony Simpson have asked us to convey their thanks for all the support and love received following the sudden death of a Husband, Dad and Grandfather.

Son Barry said "The support and love received for our family has been amazing and testament to a great man @ynot916 THANK YOU. Through devastation there is immense pride in our dad, husband, grandfather and everyone’s mate."

Son Dean also took to Twitter to say "On behalf of our family we write to express our gratitude for the very kind messages via @AFCSudbury following the death of our father Tony Simpson. We hope to see as many of you on Tuesday 17th at home to Braintree for a minutes applause in his honour"

Players past and present have shown sympathy, support and love for Tony who had been around the non-league scene with Sudbury for many a year. A man who would take in a game whenever he could, Tony's family has also received messages of support from Clubs across East Anglia and beyond.

Outside of football, friends from the worlds of Cricket and Snooker have also shown their support for a Man who will live long in everyone's memory.

The family appreciate the support received and hope as many as possible will be able to attend the friendly on Tuesday with Braintree Town where there will be a minutes applause in his honour and memory.
